Following the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that resulted in 26 fatalities – among them a naval officer and an Intelligence Bureau official – law enforcement agencies have apprehended at least 19 individuals across three northeastern states.
The arrests were made as a direct consequence of public statements regarding the devastating incident.
Specifically, those taken into custody are facing scrutiny for:
- Expressions deemed insensitive to the victims and their families.
- Comments potentially inciting unrest or spreading misinformation.
“The swift action demonstrates our commitment to ensuring public order and accountability,” stated a government spokesperson.
Investigations are ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
