A serious incident is unfolding in Melbourne’s south-east after a woman sustained life-threatening injuries following an attempted carjacking at Casey Hospital.
Around 10:45 am, the 66-year-old was assisting her husband as he exited their vehicle within the hospital’s carpark in Berwick. According to reports, an individual who had recently left the medical facility suddenly entered the driver’s seat of the car.
“She attempted to prevent the man from fleeing with the vehicle,” authorities stated. As a result, she was struck by the moving automobile.
The woman is currently receiving intensive care at The Alfred Hospital and her condition remains critical. Police are actively pursuing two individuals: the alleged perpetrator and the stolen vehicle itself.
Details surrounding the incident remain limited, but investigators have identified the car involved – a 2012 brown Ford Territory bearing registration DEX 581 – as being outstanding.
“We are working diligently to locate both the suspect and the vehicle,” confirmed police officials. “Updates will be provided as they become available.”
