Prince William is scheduled to appear at a public event next week, marking his first solo engagement since taking a brief respite from royal commitments.
The Prince of Wales, aged 42, recently experienced disappointment alongside his son, Prince George, as Aston Villa were eliminated from Champions League contention. Despite a spirited performance on Tuesday resulting in a 3-2 victory over PSG, the team ultimately fell short with a 5-4 aggregate score after a previous defeat to the French champions at Parc des Princes.
William brought young Prince George to both matches, taking advantage of his current Easter holiday break from school. The couple routinely reduces their public engagements during school holidays to dedicate time to their three children.
Princess Kate has emphasized her commitment to prioritizing her health and family as she gradually resumes her royal duties. Following the announcement in March 2024 of her cancer diagnosis, she temporarily stepped back from her official responsibilities.
On April 24th, Prince William will visit Mentivity, an organization focused on empowering young people by providing access to vital youth services and secure environments.
“Mentivity is dedicated to fostering a brighter future for the next generation,”
states their mission.
Established in 2016, Mentivity currently serves over 400 local youths each week through a variety of programs. His Royal Highness will visit Mentivity House, their community center located on the Aylesbury Estate in south London. The newly opened center, launched in March 2024, offers resources for creative development and personal growth, including workshops, youth clubs, and essential community support such as food and hygiene banks.
During his visit, Prince William will meet with Mentivity founders Sayce Holmes-Lewis and Leon Wright, both of whom grew up on the Aylesbury Estate.
“We are incredibly proud to welcome His Royal Highness and showcase the impact we’re making in this community,”
shared a statement from the founders.
The Prince will engage with young people benefiting from Mentivity’s programs and participate in their activities. He will also participate in a roundtable discussion facilitated by entrepreneur Tim Campbell MBE, a former Apprentice winner and current advisor who has recently joined Mentivity as a patron.
- The discussion will focus on apprenticeship opportunities
- Challenges faced by young people seeking employment
- Strategies for local businesses to create long-term job prospects
