Before facing the media during daily press briefings, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt incorporates a moment of prayer into her routine.
A video showcasing this practice was recently shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the White House, offering a glimpse behind the scenes. In the brief clip, Leavitt is heard saying, “Lord Jesus, please give us the strength, the knowledge, the ability to articulate our words and have fun and be confident. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Special Assistant to the President Margo Martin accompanied the video’s posting with a message of support, writing, “This is your @PressSec, America!” along with a praying emoji and the U.S. flag.
At 27 years old, Leavitt holds the distinction of being the youngest person to ever serve as White House press secretary in American history. Her journey began with an internship during the first term of President Trump’s administration. She subsequently joined the staff as an assistant press secretary under Kayleigh McEnany.
Following her time at the White House, Leavitt worked as a spokesperson for the former president’s 2024 campaign before assuming her current role.
In a recent interview with CBN News, Leavitt elaborated on the significance of this pre-briefing prayer. “I think that team prayer before is just a moment to be silent and still and ask God for confidence and the ability to articulate my words, knowledge, prayer, protection, and it is a nice moment to reset,” she explained. “It’s the last thing I do before I go out there, and then it just gives me the confidence to do a briefing.”
Leavitt has repeatedly emphasized the importance of her faith in navigating the demands of her position. As she stated, “My faith is incredibly important to me. I would argue now more than ever…being in a role that is very demanding and at times controversial, and there’s a lot of public pressure and discussion online about who you are and your family. And you know, it could be difficult for someone who doesn’t have faith but with faith, all things are possible.”
