A voluntary recall has been issued for certain Tower Air Fryer models due to a potential fire hazard. These appliances, manufactured between January 2022 and April 2023, have been identified with an overheating issue that could lead to ignition during operation.
The affected models are:
- T17023 Tower 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer
- T17061BLK Tower 4Ltr Manual Air Fryer
- T17067 Tower 4Ltr Digital Air Fryer
- T17087 Tower 2Ltr Compact Manual Air Fryer
These black air fryers were widely available through numerous retailers, including Argos, B&M Bargains, DID, Poundland, Robert Dyas, Tesco, and directly from the Tower Housewares website.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has strongly advised consumers to immediately cease using these air fryers and disconnect them from all power sources.
As stated by officials, “the product presents a risk of fire as it can overheat and ignite during use.“
The recall is in response to the products failing to meet the requirements outlined in the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
Customers concerned about their appliances should check the rating label on their air fryer to determine if it’s affected by the recall. Trading Standards have assessed the fault as low risk, however, Tower Housewares has initiated this voluntary recall as a precautionary measure to ensure customer safety and well-being.
A statement from Tower Housewares reads: “We have become aware that a small number of Tower Air Fryers have a manufacturing defect which may result in overheating that, under certain circumstances, could pose a risk of fire.”

It’s important to note that product recalls are vital for ensuring consumer safety, a concern highlighted recently with other notices including warnings about potential stones in chocolates sold at supermarkets and the possibility of metal fragments found within Easter eggs.
Those who own any of the affected air fryer models should register their details on the Tower Housewares webpage.
