A severe weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for Devon and Cornwall following an extraordinary period of rainfall. The area received the equivalent of a full month’s precipitation within the last 24 hours.
Expect intense showers across southwestern England, stretching from Land’s End to Exeter, beginning Friday evening and continuing through Saturday morning.
The Met Office cautions that these conditions could potentially lead to disruptions. Specifically, they highlight the possibility of:
- Interrupted power supplies
- Disruptions to other essential services
“We are advising residents to be prepared for potential impacts,” stated a spokesperson for the Met Office.
Further updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
