Sarma on Waqf Rallies, Courts

The Assam state government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has taken a firm position regarding ongoing demonstrations concerning recent changes to the Waqf Act. Sarma stated unequivocally that the administration will not tolerate further protests or public displays of dissent related to this legislation.

Addressing concerns surrounding the revised law, Sarma emphasized the government’s resolve. He asserted:

“We are committed to upholding the law and maintaining order. Allowing continued demonstrations is simply not an option.”
