A recent grenade attack on the residence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar, Punjab, has been attributed to Zeeshan Akhtar, a key figure linked to notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and implicated in the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui. According to sources within the Punjab Police, this coordinated assault appears to be part of a larger scheme involving Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), allegedly aimed at destabilizing religious harmony within the state.
The incident, which occurred early Tuesday morning, resulted in damage to an aluminum partition and shattered windows throughout Mr. Kalia’s home and vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as the BJP leader was present on the premises during the attack.
This explosion is the latest in a concerning trend of 12 blasts that have occurred across Punjab within the past year, drawing criticism from opposition parties who are questioning the administration of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Punjab Minister Mohinder Bhagat has asserted that those responsible for these acts are motivated by resentment towards the state’s progress.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed the apprehension of the individual believed to be directly responsible for throwing the grenade, and the e-rickshaw utilized in the attack has been recovered.
Adding another layer of complexity to the situation, Babbar Khalsa International terrorist Happy Passia swiftly claimed responsibility for the explosion. This revelation raises serious concerns about potential collaboration between Lawrence Bishnoi’s criminal network, Khalistan separatist groups, and the ISI—a connection security agencies have been investigating for some time.
Key figures implicated in these incidents include:
- Lawrence Bishnoi (Gangster)
- Zeeshan Akhtar (Associate of Bishnoi, suspect in Baba Siddiqui murder)
- Happy Passia (Babbar Khalsa International terrorist)
- Jeevan Fauji (Suspected involvement in attacks targeting police establishments in Amritsar)
Investigations continue to explore the full extent of this network and its aims, with particular focus on the recurring pattern of attacks targeting both prominent figures and law enforcement agencies.
“The situation is being treated with utmost seriousness,” stated a source within Punjab Police. “We are working diligently to dismantle these networks and prevent further incidents.”
