One group won $70 million

Just days before Easter, fifteen individuals across Queensland have unexpectedly found themselves celebrating a monumental stroke of luck, each becoming an instant millionaire thanks to a shared Oz Lotto jackpot.

The remarkable $70 million prize, drawn in number 1626, was divided amongst participants who purchased shares within various syndicates dispersed from Townsville down to the Gold Coast. The winning combination consisted of numbers 14, 32, 13, 29, 41, 23 and 8, bolstered by supplementary numbers 43, 4, and 40.

Had a single ticket claimed the entire jackpot, it would have marked only the second-largest individual win in Oz Lotto history. While some winners are still awaiting notification of their good fortune – The Lott is actively contacting those registered within its Members Club – reactions from those already informed ranged from stunned excitement to outright disbelief.

“I was just asleep! Bloody hell!” exclaimed one Bribie Island man, contacted by The Lott. Another winner shared a more hopeful sentiment: “Oh my God, that’s so good. This changes our lives. We’ve been trying to get our first home, so this will do that.”

One individual, still grappling with the reality of the win, humorously lamented a missed opportunity:

“I thought you were shitstirring me!” he laughed. “I just can’t believe it. Funnily enough, I went to buy another share into the syndicate today but it had sold out. If I had, I would have won double. But I’m still happy with my $4.7 million.”

Anna Hobdell, spokesperson for The Lott, urged all potential winners to diligently check their tickets.

“It’s remarkable that fifteen Queenslanders became multimillionaires tonight,” she stated. “While we’ve tried contacting those who registered their tickets to The Lott Members Club, some may have yet to discover the good news. We’re encouraging anyone who purchased a syndicate entry in Queensland for tonight’s Oz Lotto draw to check their tickets as soon as possible.”

The Lott reported an extraordinary surge in ticket sales leading up to the draw, noting that a similar $70 million jackpot occurred in January 2025. “At its peak on the day of the draw, we saw 4297 tickets sold in a single minute at 12:06pm,” Hobdell explained.

This latest win echoes a previous instance from February when a woman in Elizabeth Hills, Western Sydney, was notified shortly after a draw that she had secured the $100 million Oz Lotto prize thanks to her registered online account.
