A jury in Arizona reached a verdict on Monday, finding Lori Vallow Daybell guilty of conspiring to eliminate her husband, Charles Vallow. This follows a previous conviction in 2023 related to the deaths of two of her children.
The prosecution’s case centered around allegations that Vallow Daybell collaborated with Alex Cox, her brother, to orchestrate Charles Vallow’s demise with the aim of accessing a $1 million life insurance policy. Specifically, they asserted that she sought to profit from his death.
““Only you get to decide,”” Vallow Daybell stated during her closing argument, asserting the jury’s sole responsibility in determining guilt or innocence.
The legal proceedings revealed convictions for the 2019 murders of Joshua “JJ” Vallow, aged seven, and Tylee Ryan, sixteen. Furthermore, the couple was also found guilty of the murder of Chad Daybell’s first wife, Tammy Daybell. As a consequence of these crimes, they received sentences of life imprisonment.
During her defense, Vallow Daybell vehemently contested the prosecution’s claims, stating: “The state put forth a bunch of evidence in this trial to make you dislike me – to try to attack my character so that you would just say guilty no matter what evidence they showed you.” She further claimed the prosecutors presented a narrative of “a family tragedy” instead of demonstrating an actual agreement for murder.
She argued that her brother, Alex Cox, was responsible for Charles Daybell’s death, claiming he engaged in a physical altercation with Charles Vallow while she and Tylee were at home. Vallow Daybell also suggested the state failed to present evidence of any conspiracy, citing the absence of witnesses possessing knowledge of such an agreement.
Adding another layer to her defense, Vallow Daybell recounted a spiritual experience, stating that “Jesus spoke to her in a spiritual vision” revealing details about potential release from prison. Audrey Conklin of Fox News Digital contributed to this reporting.
