A potentially hazardous electrical device is being recalled following concerns about a significant electric shock risk. The item in question, the Jia Le Xin Hub – a USB hub featuring three socket outlets and six USB ports – has been pulled from sale on TikTok.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) confirmed that the Jia Le Xin Hub’s plug does not comply with UK safety standards. According to OPSS officials, “The product presents a serious risk of electric shock because it is supplied with a non-compliant plug.” Specifically, the distance between the bottom two pins and the edge of the plug falls below the legally required minimum.
“If a user plugs in the device without fully inserting the pins and then attempts to remove the plug by touching near the base of those pins, they are at risk of receiving an electric shock,” the OPSS explained.
This design flaw violates both the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994. As a result, TikTok has removed the product listing from its marketplace and initiated a recall.
With an estimated 22.7 million users in the UK (as of 2024), British consumers who frequently shop on TikTok are urged to carefully inspect their homes for this dangerous appliance.
While the OPSS has not yet released details regarding the number of units sold or whether any injuries have resulted from use, product recalls should always be treated with utmost seriousness as a critical safety measure.
This recall comes on the heels of recent warnings issued to air fryer users concerning fire risks associated with certain models sold at major retailers including Tesco, Argos, B&M Bargains, Poundland and Robert Dyas.
