The Democratic Party utilized social media to commemorate Easter, embarking on a nostalgic journey through past White House traditions – an exercise that inadvertently excluded recent presidential figures.
On Sunday morning, the party’s official X account issued a generalized “Happy Easter!” message accompanied by images depicting former presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and John F. Kennedy alongside their families during their time in office. This selection immediately drew attention to the absence of current President Joe Biden.
Conservative commentators swiftly highlighted this omission, noting the deliberate exclusion of Biden from the celebratory posts. “TRUMP SHREDS BIDEN, ‘RADICAL LEFT LUNATICS’ IN EASTER MESSAGE” became a recurring theme within conservative discourse.
Mirroring the X account’s strategy, the Democratic Party’s Bluesky channel disseminated a similar collection of photographs without including President Biden. However, the party’s presence on Facebook and Instagram presented a more nuanced approach. These platforms showcased the former presidents in chronological order, with John F. Kennedy’s image prominently featured initially, followed by President Biden’s photograph as the final inclusion.
Technical limitations played a role in this disparity. According to X Help Center guidelines, users are restricted to posting a maximum of one to four images at once. Similarly, Bluesky imposes a limit of four images per post. Consequently, within each platform’s constraints, Biden’s image was consistently left out of the five-president array showcased on Facebook and Instagram.
“Not pictured: Joe Biden. LOL snubbed,” remarked conservative strategist Steve Guest on X, directly addressing the perceived oversight. Other voices amplified this criticism, such as Matt Whitlock of the 10-Minute Drill podcast who commented, “Love that the gen-Z staffers running this account are more fond of Jimmy Carter than Joe Biden.” Kate Hyde, a Substack writer, independently shared Easter images featuring President Biden on X.
Despite these public reactions, the Democratic National Committee refrained from offering an immediate response to Fox News Digital’s inquiry regarding the situation.
The exclusion reflects a broader internal dynamic within the party, stemming largely from the fallout following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 election. Many Democrats attribute their strategic challenges to President Biden’s decision to remain in the race for an extended period and to his perceived failure to adequately support then-Vice President Kamala Harris during the final stages of the campaign. Furthermore, scrutiny has intensified regarding concerns about President Biden’s cognitive state, fueled by internal assessments made by White House staff prior to significant public debates. “FORMER BIDEN OFFICIAL WARNS EX-PRESIDENT TO STAY AWAY FROM SPOTLIGHT, SAYS DEMOCRATIC PARTY ANGRY WITH HIM” underscored this tension.
