Baby Product Warning

Britons warned as baby product sold in Boots could pose 'falling hazard' Consumer Safety

A potential safety issue has prompted Boots and Bugaboo to alert customers regarding the Bugaboo Giraffe high chair with baby set. The warning applies to chairs manufactured up to April 8, 2025.

Bugaboo identified a risk where screws securing the legs of the high chair could loosen over time if not properly tightened during assembly. This situation could lead to detachment and create a falling hazard while a child is seated and using the footrest.

“The legs of the high chair can detach from the frame when a baby is seated in the baby set and is pushing against the footrest,” Bugaboo stated, emphasizing their commitment to customer safety. “Safety is paramount to ensure the wellbeing of Bugaboo’s customers and their children.”

To address this concern, Bugaboo has developed a straightforward solution and is providing a free Repair Kit to affected consumers.

The Repair Kit includes:

  • A redesigned set of screws
  • An improved Allen key for simpler installation
  • A detailed step-by-step instruction manual

These updated components are intended to enhance stability and the company assures customers that the replacement process is quick and easily manageable at home.

As a temporary safety measure, Bugaboo advises users continuing to utilize the high chair prior to receiving their repair kit to keep the footrest in its lowest position. This can be achieved by pressing the buttons on either side while sliding it down.

Beyond the Bugaboo recall, other retailers are also taking action due to safety concerns. TK Maxx has issued urgent recalls for two products: the Erth Beauty Hair Revitalize Steamer Cap and Byblos Blu Happy Hour Eau De Toilette.

Eclat Cosmetic Ltd initiated these recalls because the electrical fuse within the plug of the hair steamer cap does not meet required safety standards, potentially posing a risk of electric shock or fire. Customers are urged to discontinue use immediately and return either product to TK Maxx or Homesense for a full refund or replacement.
