Rob Lowe recently experienced an amusing misidentification while participating in a Hollywood sightseeing excursion. The actor found himself mistakenly recognized as the iconic “Full House” personality, John Stamos.
The incident unfolded during a video shared on social media platforms, capturing a moment with a tour guide who introduced Lowe as Stamos to a group of tourists. “He looks like him, you know,” the guide remarked, eliciting laughter from the assembled visitors.
Initially taken aback, Lowe approached the bus, inquiring, “Hey guys, am I John Stamos?” The responding chorus quickly clarified, “No, Rob Lowe!”
In a lighthearted reaction, Lowe playfully scolded the guide: “Dude, you need to improve your job!” The tour guide responded with, “It’s usually about having fun, you know. I didn’t expect to run into people.”
Lowe then distanced himself from the situation, commenting, “Oh, I see; don’t listen to him.” The video concluded with the tour guide expressing gratitude for the group’s enthusiasm: “Thank you for your cool energy.”
Lowe tagged his son, John Owen Lowe, in the accompanying caption, playfully questioning if he was experiencing a prank – “Are we being ‘Punk’d’?” – to which John Owen responded with, “The people have spoken.”
The amusing encounter garnered attention across social media. Celebrities like Kimberly Williams-Paisley offered support for Stamos, stating, “I love you John Stamos!” Holly Robinson Peete added a humorous critique of the tour guide’s performance: “He needs to be fired immediately.”
This wasn’t an isolated incident. Last month, Lowe’s son posted a tribute to his father on his birthday, featuring a photograph of John Stamos instead of a picture of Rob Lowe himself.
“Happy birthday, Dad. You’re my role model, first teacher, and best friend all in one. Here’s to many more,” the son’s caption read.
Further adding to the playful exchange, Lowe’s son also shared a digitally altered image from their appearance on “Unstable” season two, where Stamos’ face had been superimposed onto Lowe’s. “Such a dream to be working with my pops on this. Love you, dad!! Go binge and let us know what you think!”
The situation reached another level during an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in 2023. Rob Lowe revealed that his son routinely replaces his face with Stamos’ image on their family Christmas cards – a tradition initiated by John Stamos himself, who quipped, “I’m tired of explaining that ‘no, I’m not really his dad, I’m a better-looking version of his dad,’ you know,” accompanied by laughter.
