Australian Model Dies

Lucy Markovic, a prominent Australian model and former contestant on *Australia’s Next Top Model*, has died at the age of 27 following an extended struggle with a serious health condition.

Markovic succumbed overnight after battling a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a complex and often debilitating neurological disorder characterized by abnormal blood vessel formations in the brain. The news was initially shared on her Instagram Story.

A heartfelt message, posted to her account, conveyed the profound sadness of her passing:

“Dear friends and family, I regret to inform you that Lucy has passed. She was at peace. Me, her mother, and my mother were present with her.

We ask you to please give us space in these hard times.

May Lucy rest in peace.”

Elite NYC, the modeling agency representing Markovic, also confirmed her death, paying tribute to her as a source of joy and inspiration.

“We are heartbroken to share that Lucy Markovic has passed away after a brave battle with a brain AVM.

Lucy was a bright shining light. She possessed an incredible dry sense of humor; her smile and laughter could illuminate any space, drawing people closer.

She had a deep love for dancing – it truly allowed her to shine.

Modeling was one of Lucy’s dreams, and we were deeply honored to be part of that journey with her. She brought elegance, strength, and beauty to her work, but even more so, she brought herself—her warmth, her laughter, her light.”

Just last month, Markovic publicly shared an update on her health journey via Instagram, disclosing that she was scheduled for brain surgery related to the AVM.

“Lucky + unlucky – Radiation, seizures, heavy medication and 4 years later.

I will be undergoing brain surgery on the 26th of this month for the AVM in the back of my brain (arteriovenous malformation) that is the size of a golf ball. (Now has changed to the 2nd of April).”

Markovic gained recognition as a runner-up during Season nine of *Australia’s Next Top Model*, launching her career and solidifying her presence in the Australian fashion scene.
