Asda Issues Meat Recall

Asda issues urgent recall for meat sold in stores that could pose a 'health risk' - 'do not eat' Food Safety

Asda is undertaking a mandatory product recall for its “Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices” due to critical allergen concerns, presenting a potential health hazard to consumers. The supermarket giant announced the action following the discovery of undeclared ingredients – specifically milk and sulphites – within several packages of the product.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued an urgent warning, advising: ““If you have purchased the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites, do not eat it.”” This highlights the serious implications for individuals with sensitivities.

The recall stems from an additional issue; some packs of pork belly slices inadvertently contained Asda’s “Simple To Cook Tomato & Mozzarella Pork Meatballs,” creating further complexity in the process.

**Recalled Product Details:**

* **Product Name:** Asda Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices
* **Weight:** 380g
* **Identified Allergens:** Milk, Sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites

The FSA confirmed Asda’s action stating: “Asda is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail locations offering this item.” These notices are designed to inform customers about the reason for the recall and provide clear instructions on what actions to take if they have purchased the affected product.

Asda has requested that customers with purchases made up until April 25th return the product to their nearest store for a full refund, without needing a receipt. “We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused,” the company stated. Customer inquiries can be directed to Asda’s Customer Relations team at 0800 952 0101.

**Further Recall Information:**

Alongside this recall, the FSA has also raised concerns about Tower 2 Litre Air Fryers sold through TK Maxx and Homesense between November 2024 and April 2025. This product is subject to a separate recall due to a manufacturing defect that could lead to dangerous overheating, representing a substantial fire risk within UK households. “Under certain circumstances, this fault could pose a significant ‘fire risk’ in homes across the UK,” TK Maxx cautioned.
