Trump Sells 2028 Gear

'Rewrite the rules!' Donald Trump flogs 'Trump 2028' merch online despite not being allowed to run for third term Politics

Despite being legally barred from seeking a third presidential term, Donald Trump’s online merchandise store is already offering items emblazoned with “Trump 2028.” The collection includes the familiar red hats, T-shirts featuring the phrase “rewrite the rules” enclosed in brackets, and branded can coolers.

A product description on the official Trump Store website proudly proclaims, “Make a statement with this Made in America Trump 2028 hat,” accompanied by an image of Eric Trump sporting the accessory.

The former President appears determined to pursue another run for office in 2028, a scenario that would necessitate amending the U.S. Constitution—a challenging task requiring a two-thirds majority vote in both the House and Senate.

The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, explicitly prohibits anyone from serving more than two terms as president. Trump previously held office from 2017 to 2021.

Despite these legal constraints, Trump has repeatedly asserted that he is serious about a potential third term, suggesting there are “methods” by which it could be achieved. In an interview with NBC in March, he acknowledged it was “far too early” but indicated significant public support for his candidacy.

“I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know… It’s very early in the administration,” Trump stated when questioned about future plans.

When asked if Vice President JD Vance could potentially succeed him in 2028 and subsequently pave the way for his return, Trump responded with a hint of ambiguity. “That’s one possibility—but there are others, too.”

Former Chief Strategist Steve Bannon has publicly pledged that Trump “will run and win again in 2028.”

Achieving a third term would likely require either securing the necessary two-thirds “supermajority” vote within Congress or convening a constitutional convention—a process initiated by at least two-thirds of the nation’s fifty states.

Such an endeavor would demand persuading a substantial number of Democratic lawmakers and even some moderate Republicans to support altering the Constitution. Recent polling data, however, reveals that a slight majority of Republicans believe Trump should not pursue another term.

Congressional leaders in both the House and Senate have dismissed any serious legislative efforts aimed at amending the Constitution to accommodate a third presidential term.

Attorney General Pam Bondi expressed her personal desire for Trump’s continued leadership, stating, “I wish we could have him for 20 years as our president. But I think he’s gonna be finished probably after this term.”
