Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, appeared visibly delighted by Bryce Mitchell’s defeat at UFC 314 in Miami on Saturday night.
Mitchell lost via choke out to Jean Silva during the second round of their fight. Video footage captured Portnoy’s enthusiastic reaction from the lower bowl as Mitchell lay in the octagon. Notably, Portnoy, who is Jewish, was wearing a white kippah and waving an Israeli flag while Silva celebrated his victory atop the cage.
Portnoy later posted on X, writing, “Always fun to see a Hitler lover get his a– whooped,” alongside a video of his celebration. The event coincided with the first night of Passover.
The controversy surrounding Mitchell stems from remarks he made earlier this year on his podcast, “ArkanSanity.” During an episode in January, he controversially stated that “Hitler fought for his country…he wanted to purify [Germany] by kicking the greedy Jews out.” He further claimed, “[Hitler] was gay-ing up the kids, they were queer-ing up the women, they were queer-ing up the dudes.”
Mitchell then went on to deny the Holocaust, asserting, “There’s no possible way they could’ve burned and cremated six million bodies; you’re going to realize the Holocaust ain’t real.”
UFC CEO Dana White strongly condemned Mitchell’s statements. He stated, “Hitler is one of the most disgusting and evil human beings to ever walk the face of the earth,” adding that anyone who opposes this view is a “moron.” White attributed such comments to the negative impact of the internet and social media, saying they provide a platform for “dumb, ignorant people.”
Portnoy also briefly interacted with former President Donald Trump during the event and expressed enjoyment not only in Mitchell’s defeat but also in Silva’s celebratory actions.
Mitchell now holds a record of 17-4 in his UFC career, while Silva continues an impressive winning streak, boasting a 16-2 overall record.
