A significant pile-up occurred during Saturday’s Sciaps 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, impacting several NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers.
The incident began when Dean Thompson made contact with Creed as they navigated Turn 4. This initial collision sent Creed spinning across the track, where he impacted a wall in a vulnerable position—perpendicular to oncoming traffic. Brennan Poole found himself unable to avoid the rapidly unfolding situation.
As Creed’s car came to rest, Poole inadvertently collided with him, triggering a massive wreck.
The impact was severe; Creed’s left front side of his vehicle detached entirely, and Poole suffered extensive damage as well, losing his right side panel and rear tire.
“It definitely took my breath away,” Poole recounted to NBC Sports after receiving medical attention. “I was talking with Sheldon when we got into the trailer, and he said it did the same to him.”
Creed attributed the accident to the speed of the race and a lack of reaction time.
“Everything happens so fast; you’re going so quickly. There’s very little opportunity to avoid a car parked in the middle of the track like mine was,” he explained.
Both Poole and Creed finished the race near the bottom, placing 36th and 37th respectively.
Despite the chaos, the race had a clear victor. Kyle Larson secured first place, followed by Carson Kvapil, Justin Allgaier, Sammy Smith, and Brandon Jones in the top five.
- 1st: Kyle Larson
- 2nd: Carson Kvapil
- 3rd: Justin Allgaier
- 4th: Sammy Smith
- 5th: Brandon Jones
Justin Allgaier now holds the lead in the Xfinity Series standings, with Sam Mayer, Jesse Love, Austin Hill, and Connor Zilisch trailing behind.
