A couple from Lancashire transformed their health and appearance by embracing an intermittent fasting approach, achieving remarkable weight loss in just 12 weeks. Chris, age 44, lost approximately 4st (around 28lb), while his partner Lindsay, 41, shed roughly 2st (around 14lb).
Their journey began with a stark realization during a family vacation in Cornwall. While enjoying the amenities of their rental accommodation, including a hot tub, they were confronted by their reflections and felt deeply dissatisfied with their physiques, fueled by indulgence in rich foods and alcoholic beverages. As Chris recalled: “We were both looking at our stomachs—we’d just enjoyed Cornish pasties and beers—and we were quite disgusted with ourselves.”
He described his condition before starting the program: “I weighed 17st 4lb, felt like a big blob, and didn’t like myself at all. I even reached a point where getting out of the car or off the floor required considerable effort.”
Despite wanting to improve their eating habits, they initially found it challenging to navigate a dietary overhaul. Lindsay explained, “Despite eating substantial meals, we were perpetually hungry. We both lacked energy and experienced poor sleep quality. Chris also suffered from inflammation and associated joint pain.”
Drawing on his background in sports science, Chris conducted online research seeking solutions for better health, leading him to discover The Fast 800.
The Fast 800, a form of intermittent fasting developed by the late Dr. Michael Mosley, became their strategy. This plan emphasized consumption of nutrient-rich foods high in protein, including eggs, lean meats, salads and an abundance of vegetables. Contrary to typical dieting advice, they incorporated healthy fats like full-fat dairy products (milk and Greek yogurt) and peanut butter into their diet—even during holidays.
“By week three,” Lindsay noted, “we noticed that the constant hunger had subsided, and we were both experiencing significant weight loss.”
Chris elaborated on the process: “The initial weight drop is often attributed to water loss, but soon after, your body begins actively burning fat. The program became progressively easier as we witnessed such encouraging results. You start looking in the mirror and thinking, ‘I can do this; I feel great, and I’m starting to look better too.’”
Alongside dietary changes, Chris and Lindsay increased their physical activity through weighted workouts at the gym.
The pair consistently lost around 4lb per week, reporting a significant increase in energy levels. Lindsay added: “My waist, arms, and legs feel much tighter and more toned. I’m proud to say that I now have a visible six-pack – something I never thought possible.”
