Ex-AFL Figure Arrested

Former Australian rules footballer and sports agent Ricky Nixon is facing new legal troubles after being taken into custody in Melbourne following a concerning social media post.

The 62-year-old was arrested near his Port Melbourne residence earlier today, prompted by a Facebook message that allegedly contained threats directed at a police officer.

“The post, reviewed by authorities, reportedly included statements suggesting Nixon intended to ‘bury’ the officer,” sources confirmed.

This arrest comes amidst a series of ongoing legal issues for Nixon, who enjoyed a career in the AFL spanning from 1983 to 1993, playing 63 games across Carlton, St Kilda, and Hawthorn.

  • Early Career: Played 63 AFL Games (1983-1993)
  • Career Shift: Transitioned to sports agency in 1994.
  • Representation: Represented numerous high-profile AFL players.

In 2023, Nixon was previously accused of assaulting a police officer within a courtroom setting while facing separate charges. He is also scheduled to appear in court in June regarding allegations that he sold counterfeit Melbourne Football Club memberships bearing the signatures of players from their victorious 2021 premiership team.

Authorities have confirmed Nixon is currently being held and is expected to be questioned by detectives as part of the ongoing investigation.
