Significant Vehicle Recalls Raise Driver Safety Concerns

Motorists are receiving urgent warnings regarding potential safety issues affecting numerous vehicles currently on the road. Numerous prominent automotive manufacturers have initiated recall notices, citing concerns that defects could lead to serious consequences, including collisions and potentially devastating fires.

GB News has compiled a list of critical recalls impacting drivers over recent weeks – information vital for anyone considering purchasing or operating a vehicle.

Ford’s Extensive Actions

The American automotive giant, Ford, is undertaking a substantial recall affecting approximately 177,266 vehicles across multiple model lines. According to data released by the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these actions address several distinct problems:

  • Initial Recall – Fluid Leak Risk: A first notice impacts 123,611 Ford F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator models manufactured between 2017 and 2018. The issue centers around a possible fluid leak that compromises braking effectiveness and significantly lengthens stopping distances. “Drivers are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete,” the company stated in recall documentation.
  • Powertrain Module Malfunction: A second recall covers 24,655 units of the 2025 Ford Explorer. This issue relates to a potential malfunction within the powertrain control module (PCM), which could trigger unintended resets. This can disrupt the vehicle’s parking system and, critically, cause the engine to abruptly stall. Dealers are offering free repairs for this software-related problem.
  • High-Voltage Battery Risk: Although affecting only 457 vehicles, a further recall focuses on certain 2024-2025 E-Transit Chassis Cab models. The vulnerability stems from the possibility of water ingress into the high-voltage battery, creating an elevated risk of electrical shorts and subsequent fires.

Volkswagen’s Recall Targets

The Volkswagen Group of America is also addressing safety concerns with a recall impacting select 2022-2023 Audi RS E-Tron GT and E-Tron vehicles.

  • Passenger Occupant Detection System Fault: The core issue involves a defect within the passenger occupant detection system (PODS) wiring. This can lead to the unintended deactivation of the front passenger airbag when the seat is occupied, representing a serious hazard. Dealers are providing free repairs through the replacement of the seat cushion.

Chrysler’s Visibility Concerns

Furthermore, more than 48,000 Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet vehicles have been recalled due to a problem with the display module. Specifically, the module may fail to accurately present the rearview camera image.

“This issue violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111 (Rear Visibility),” according to documents detailing the recall. The failure could substantially increase the risk of a collision as drivers may be unable to properly assess the area behind their vehicles.

Further Developments

Recent automotive news includes reports on a serious single-vehicle accident involving a Tesla, a significant decline in demand for Tesla vehicles due to Elon Musk’s influence, and a public recognition of the Mini as the best British car ever made – with many experts agreeing there is “little doubt!”
