Belichick lands UNC recruit from Sanders

The North Carolina Tar Heels, under the leadership of new head coach Bill Belichick, have secured a significant commitment for their 2025-26 roster. The highly sought-after wide receiver, Adrian Wilson, will be transferring from Colorado, where he was a key recruit for Coach Prime’s Buffaloes program.

Wilson informed On3 of his decision to join Belichick’s team in Chapel Hill as the coach embarks on his first season. The four-star prospect is currently ranked among the nation’s top wide receivers, holding the No. 32 spot in the Class of 2025 rankings.

Belichick and his coaching staff have been diligently working to bolster their roster through the transfer portal. Prior to landing Wilson, they secured Mikai Gbayor, a linebacker previously playing for both Nebraska and Missouri.

The Tar Heels’ recruiting efforts extended beyond Wilson and Gbayor. Leveraging connections made by Steve Belichick, the coach’s son who served as defensive coordinator at Washington, UNC has also welcomed three former Huskies players:

  • Khmori House (Linebacker)
  • Thaddeus Dixon (Cornerback)
  • Peyton Waters (Safety)

Wilson, originally from Texas, initially committed to Arizona State before signing with Colorado and enrolling early. His journey highlights the competitive landscape of college recruiting.

“We’re not finished yet,” Belichick is likely to say, as he continues his search for talent in the transfer portal. A key area of focus remains the quarterback position; upgrading at this crucial role will be essential if North Carolina hopes to contend on the field next season.

Gio Lopez from South Alabama has been identified as a potential target for Belichick’s team.

Meanwhile, Colorado, now under Sanders’ leadership, faces a transition of their own. With both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter projected to be first-round selections in the 2025 NFL Draft, the program will undoubtedly seek out new stars to fill those vacancies.
