Following a devastating terrorist assault in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region on Tuesday, authorities in Assam have initiated a stringent series of actions targeting those suspected of harboring pro-Pakistan sentiments.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that at least eight individuals are currently in custody as part of what he described as an “accelerated operation” to identify and apprehend anyone providing – whether overtly or subtly – support to Pakistan.
The crackdown reflects a swift response to the attack, demonstrating the government’s resolve to prevent external influence and ensure public safety. The individuals apprehended are facing scrutiny regarding their alleged connections to pro-Pakistan activities.
Details surrounding the specific charges against those arrested remain under investigation, but officials have emphasized that any form of support for entities linked to terrorism will be met with decisive action.
“We are committed to safeguarding our nation’s integrity and security,” Sarma stated. “Any association or advocacy for foreign powers detrimental to India’s interests will not be tolerated.”
